Picturehouse Pop-Up with Leffe is heading to the beautiful, elegant surroundings of Asylum in Peckham with a special screening of timeless ’90s comedy classic Groundhog Day. Join us on Friday 16 September as we relive Bill Murray’s day in Punxsutawney. It’ll be a doozie!

The film will start at 7pm, with doors opening at 6pm. You are invited to arrive early, relax and enjoy a drink in the mesmeric surroundings.

This is a licensed event, so we cannot allow any alcohol brought in from outside, however a bar will be open for beer and wine sales. We will also be handing out free samples of Leffe throughout the evening.

Asylum is stunning grade-II-listed building that has been used as an exhibition space since 2010. You might recognise the venue from our Picturehouse trailer from last year:

Friday 16 September, 7.00

Groundhog Day (PG)

groundhog-day

Director: Harold Ramis. Starring: Bill Murray, Andie MacDowell, Chris Elliott. USA 1993. 101 mins.

Following the success of the recent musical adaptation, we’re offering you the chance to catch the original Groundhog Day in all its repetitive glory. The last in a long line of collaborations between Murray and Harold Ramis, the film sees Murray at his world-weary, comedic best as Phil, a weatherman who is out to cover the annual emergence of the groundhog from its hole. He gets caught in a blizzard that he didn’t predict and finds himself trapped in a time warp. His initial confusion makes way for wild abandon, then suicidal defeat, and finally a concerted effort to use his endless Groundhog Day to become a better person.
