Picturehouse at National Media Museum and Equity Partnership Bradford team up to bring you a discussion after a screening of Tom Hooper’s The Danish Girl on Wednesday 13 January, 6.30.
Tom Hooper’s (Les Miserables, The King’s Speech) The Danish Girl follows Einar Wegener (Eddie Redmayne, The Theory Of Everything) who, with the encouragement of his artist wife (Alicia Vikander, Ex Machina, Testament Of Youth), begins a groundbreaking process of gender transition in the 1930s to become Lili Elbe. With his portrayal of Einar/Lili, Redmayne brilliantly negotiates the psychological road map required to make the journey, aided by Gerda’s supportive pragmatism.
Trans Awareness training provider Tanner Gibbins-Klein a.o. will be discussing the representation of LGBT characters in film and media, changes made in recent years and hopes for the future.
The event takes place in the Cubby Broccoli Cinema (limited availability). Book tickets
