Pop Ritzy, our new pop-up screen, launches this December
The Ritzy Cinema and Pop Brixton will team up from this December to launch a series of monthly screenings from a new temporary pop up cinema.
Pop Ritzy will be our sixth screen which will show a mixture of specially curated favourites, classics and crowd-pleasers, from The Grand Budapest Hotel to The Graduate, all hosted in the unique atmosphere of Pop Brixton. For starters we’ll be hosting monthly screenings but we’re also keen to support up and coming local talent, so if you’re a South London filmmaker with something to show, get in touch.
This temporary cinema (complete with popcorn and bevvies) will be based at Pop Brixton, a vibrant social enterprise just around the corner from Brixton station which hosts some of the area’s most creative independent start-ups across food, retail and the arts.
Sunday 13 December, 4.00
Home Alone (PG)
Dir. Chris Columbus. Starring: Macauley Culkin, Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern. 103 mins.
Billed as a family comedy without the family, Chris Columbus’ much-loved madcap movie caper stars Macaulay Culkin as Kevin, a tough little tyke who’s expecting someone to come down his chimney – but not Santa Claus.
Sunday 13 December, 7.00
Dir. Richard Donner. Starring: Bill Murray, Karen Allen and John Forsythe.
TV executive Frank Cross (Murray) is cynical, sour and cruel: a latter-day Scrooge, no less. The outrageous comic antics that were Murray’s trademark in the 1980s combine with eye-popping special effects and the traditional heartwarming story, in a festive movie that will entertain children and adults alike.
