City Screen Picturehouse in York has arranged a new deal with our next-door neighbours Waterstones for all you fans of Sherlock Holmes.
The new mystery drama stars Ian McKellen as Sherlock Holmes and Laura Linney as housekeeper Mrs Munro, and is based on Mitch Cullin’s 2005 novel A Slight Trick Of The Mind .
Waterstones on Coney Street in York is offering £2 off the price of the novel to all customers of City Screen who present a cinema ticket stub for Mr Holmes after enjoying the film in our comfy cinema auditoria.
Mr Holmes tells the story of a long-retired Sherlock Holmes, who’s living in a remote Sussex farmhouse with his housekeeper and her young son. Holmes reflects on his life while writing his journals, tending to his bees and dealing with the deterioration of his once incredible mind. The film, like the novel, uses flashbacks to reveal events of the past including his visit to Japan, and takes us back in time to when he was still at the height of his fame and mental ability at his Baker Street consulting rooms.
Enjoy the film, and don’t forget to save your cinema ticket stub to take advantage of this offer!
