THE IMPOSTER was honoured last night at the Moët British Independent Film Awards after the docu-thriller won Best British Documentary and The Douglas Hickox Award (Directorial Debut) for Bart Layton. If you missed it first time round, today’s your chance. THE IMPOSTER is back on the big screen, for one day only.
Nominated in six categories at the BIFAs (including Best British Independent Film and Best Director), Layton’s film is a heart-stopping case of truth being stranger than fiction.
Director Layton said, “I’d do an interview one day convinced I understood what happened, and the next day I’d sit down with someone with a different side of the story and come away with the opposite conclusion. My job was navigating these conflicting versions.”
“When this film was over, I felt as if I had been holding my breath for 99 minutes. It is pure, delicious suspense.” – Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian. ★★★★★
“An extraordinary debut feature film… THE IMPOSTER is the story of a lie that spins so wildly out of control, it becomes almost impossible not to be sucked into its orbit.” – Robbie Collin, The Telegraph. ★★★★★
