STARSUCKERS – the media exposé is on its way
The latest film from Chris Atkins, director of 2007′s TAKING LIBERTIES, is a blistering exposé of the media and PR industries that propagate our insatiable obsession with celebrity. STARSUCKERS reveals the murky practices of the British tabloid press (among others) and the film is already making waves with a piece on today’s front page of the Guardian website and going into tomorrow’s paper.
The film premieres at the London Film Festival before it opens at Picturehouses on 30th October and we can’t wait for it.
“This film would have been dead in a ditch without Picturehouses getting behind it. We’re trying to blow the lid off the whole media industry, so unsurprisingly no distributor would touch us with a ten foot bargepole, even though we have elements in the film that are front page news. But we’ve been booked into a bunch of top Picturehouse sites from the 30th October (including my local Greenwich Picturehouse!) and we are bracing ourselves for a hectic few weeks of special screenings, Q&As, and dodging angry tabloid hacks.” Chris Atkins – Director
