Hits & Misses – Coco Makes the Top Ten!
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince remains at the top of the Box Office for its third weekend, no surprises there then! The boy wizard grossed £2,791,135 last weekend sending his UK total to just shy of £40m and international gross to $492.3m.
Ice Age 3 (in its 5th week in the UK top ten) has now become the highest grossing animated film of all time reaching $550m internationally. The previous king of the animated world was Finding Nemo which made $525m back in 2003.
Of the new releases this past weekend, the Guinea Pigs of G-Force topped the pile with £2,478,554 from 649 cinemas screening in either 2-D or 3-D. Most notable in the art-house world was the impressive opening of the Picturehouse Recommends title Coco Before Chanel. 91 cinemas screened the film grossing £414,864 with a screen average of £4,559 which is second only to Mr Potter.
Stateside, Judd Apatow’s Funny People topped the box office with a fairly underwhelming £20m opening. The Adam Sandler and friends comedy opens here on 28 August.

So er… What were the misses.
Well, er, Funny People in the US was a bit of a disappointment but I see your point. This week I’m feeling positive so it’s all about the hits.
Ah, I think I skim-read the word topped…
