And like that, poof. He’s gone.

Jason waves goodbye - clearly not sad to see the back of us then!
Sadly, Picturehouse cinemas must bid farewell to a great member of the team: Jason Wood, programmer of cinemas (and festivals), writer of film books (and newspaper/magazine articles), interviewer of stars (and the less famous but worthy none-the-less), host of Q&A’s (and stealer of limelight in said Q&As) but most important of all, a key contributor to this humble blog!
Jason is going to join the Curzon group (spit!) to head up their programming department. Yes, he’s left us for the competition but we’re not bitter (much). Seriously, he’ll be sorely missed by the gang at Picturehouses and we wish him well for this exciting new chapter in his career.
I still have his log in details for this blog though, so I can attribute all sorts of rubbish to his name. He did send me this message:
It is with some sadness that I announce that I am leaving City Screen for pastures new. Blogs and tweets meant something entirely different when I started at the company almost 10 years ago but it has been a real pleasure contributing festival reports and interviews over the last few months, a period during which the Picturehouse blog has gone from strength to strength.
Picturehouse genuinely represents all that is fantastic about cinema and about the cinema going experience and my involvement with the company is a source of very deep personal and professional satisfaction. I wish the company continued success and, you never know, may well contribute the odd interview every now and again. Keep watching these pages and participating. You know it makes sense…
A further message (and a plug for Jason’s books) can be found on the excellent Splendor Cinema blog by the manager of the Duke of York’s Picturehouse in Brighton.
